Our client is an established, full-service CPA and accounting firm in the Stow, Ohio area that provides accounting, bookkeeping, tax, and consulting services to small businesses and individuals throughout Northeast Ohio. The firm has built its reputation around personalized service, strong client relationships, and quality work.
They are looking to add a Staff Accountant who wants to broaden their experience and grow within public accounting.
This could be an excellent opportunity for an accountant who already has experience in a CPA or public accounting environment, as well as someone earlier in their career who has a strong accounting foundation and is interested in continuing to develop professionally. A CPA license is not required. Candidates who are working toward or interested in eventually earning their CPA are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you'll work with a variety of small-business and individual clients and gain exposure to multiple areas of accounting and tax. Responsibilities may include:

Prepare individual and business tax returns.

Assist with tax planning and year-round client accounting needs.

Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.

Maintain general ledgers and make appropriate adjusting entries.

Perform bank and account reconciliations.

Provide bookkeeping and general accounting support for business clients.

Review financial information for accuracy and identify discrepancies or issues requiring attention.

Assist clients with accounting questions and help them understand their financial information.

Support payroll, payroll tax, and other business accounting needs as appropriate.

Work directly with senior accountants and firm leadership on client matters.

Develop strong, professional relationships with clients.

Stay current on accounting standards, tax regulations, and relevant compliance requirements.

What We’re Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines solid accounting skills with professionalism, curiosity, and a genuine interest in helping clients.
Ideal candidates will have:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

3-5 years of accounting experience; public accounting or CPA firm experience is strongly preferred.

Experience with individual and/or business tax preparation is preferred.

Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statements.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, particularly during tax season.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Professional written and verbal communication skills.

Comfort communicating directly with clients.

Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Strong ethics and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
CPA certification is not required. CPA candidates or accountants interested in pursuing their CPA designation are welcome and encouraged to apply.
